How To Get Your First Sale On Fiverr

“Hi Daniel. I’ve just finished setting up my Fiverr seller account, submitted my first gig or two, and am now waiting…”

I guess, you want to know how to get your first sale on Fiverr? Make your first $100?

The short answer is that you need to get as many people as possible to see your performances.

But, believe me, it’s a lot easier said than done.

Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to make your first transaction and begin receiving positive feedback from your consumers in order to expand your Fiverr business.

Here’s how to get your first Fiverr sale, whether you’ve done it before or not!

7 proven ways to Make Your First Fiverr Sale

If you can put yourself in your ideal client’s shoes and look at your profile through their eyes, you’ll discover a lot of things you can do to make your gigs more appealing and trustworthy.

Making everyone who views your profile or gigs believe you and the work you give is perhaps the most important thing you can do to get your first sale or more sales in general.

Otherwise, you’ll be waiting a long time for someone to place an order with you! These pointers will assist you in doing just that…

  1. Choosing the Appropriate Service to Provide

Spend some time researching what’s hot on Fiverr and deciding on the ideal niche for you.

In general, design work and content authoring are in high demand.

However, choose something that you enjoy doing.

If you aren’t skilled in design, for example, don’t offer that service, even if it is popular.

Choosing the Appropriate Service to Provide

Since each work on Fiverr starts at $5, the rule of thumb is that it shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes to complete one work.

It isn’t worth it if it isn’t worth it any longer.

  1. The perfect time to post your Gig

Because most categories have a “new seller” section, Fiverr allows new sellers a chance to get some exposure.

So, once you submit your gig for the first time, it will be posted for a few hours or days.

This is your best chance at getting your first customer.

Consider when buyers could demand your services in light of this.

If your target consumers are businesses (for example, copywriting, web analysis, and so on), it’s preferable to offer your gig on a weekday.

Similarly, if your target clients are people looking for a portrait sketch, weekends might be a great time.

  1. Make Your First Prices Appealing

Start your performances with low costs and you’ll have a far better chance of gaining a first sale and, maybe, a review.

Why is it a good strategy to start with low prices?

Because potential consumers don’t yet know who you are, how good your job is, or whether or not you are trustworthy.

Make Your First Prices Appealing

They have less to lose if they buy from someone with no experience because the price is lower.

After a few orders and positive client feedback, you can gradually raise your prices.

Customer reviews are the goal of your first few sales since if you have some proof of solid work, people will start to trust you as a seller and start buying from you.

  1. Check the “Buyer Requests” section on a daily basis.

You may browse all of the buyers who have posted what they need in the “Buyer Requests” area of your seller profile, and sellers can send them offers for the work they need to be done.

Buyer Requests gigs will be tailored to the types of gigs you offer on your seller profile.

If you offer graphic design services, for example, you will find graphic design requests under the Buyer Requests section.

Every day, each seller on Fiverr receives 10 offers.

You must utilize these offers to send proposals/offers in response to the Buyers’ jobs/projects/requests.

You may get it here: Buying -> Check out the projects that are currently available.

A list of Buyer Requests will be displayed.

Buyer Requests

The majority of buyers state their budget and timeframe.

You can also view how many bids have previously been sent in response to a specific request.

If you’re wondering, “How about the Gig?”

Keep your seat warm and continue reading.

The CATEGORY of YOUR GIGS will determine which requests will be shown to you.

Furthermore, gigs can assist you in narrowing down the Buyers’ needs.

Requests are displayed by default for all of your Gig categories.

For instance, I currently have two gigs.

One is about WordPress, while the other is about quality assurance.

Buyers post requests in those two categories, which I observe.

I may filter the requests to view only those that are “WordPress” or “QA” related.

As previously stated, sellers can make up to 10 offers each day (as of this writing) to buyers with projects that need to be completed.

Do you want to make your first Fiverr sale?

Make use of your buyer request section daily.

  1. Make sure to optimize your Fiverr gigs and the trustworthiness of your seller profile.

This may come as a surprise to some.

However, you’d be shocked how many sellers have poor profiles and gigs, meaning they’re missing out on a lot of potential sales.

If I’m a buyer, I want to know who I’ll be working with, how excellent they are at the job, and whether or not I can trust them.

Good luck earning your first sale if your profile doesn’t promote credibility.

The following areas should be amplified:

1 Profile Description

At the very least, your seller profile description should state who you are, what kind of job you do, and your experience.

Profile Description

Good seller profiles go a step further and tell you a little bit about themselves as people, promoting their personality to some extent.

As a result, you’re more likely to attract like-minded and relatable potential buyers.

2 Fiverr Skills Tests

Before listing your gig to the public, some Fiverr gigs need you to complete certain competence tests.

Search Engine Optimization is an example of this. You must pass the SEO test before submitting your gig.

The goal is to take the test every other week or as often as Fiverr allows to ensure you get the maximum possible result.

This simply demonstrates to potential customers that you know what you’re talking about and are an industry expert for your gigs.

3 Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions save you time and show your potential buyers that you are professional.

To win the sale, you should post commonly asked questions instead of requiring buyers to contact you and wait for a response.

Frequently Asked Questions

Researching top sellers who have the same gig as you and seeing what their commonly asked questions are is an easy method to figure out what queries potential customers might have.

Make a list of the questions that are most relevant to your job and respond to them.

FAQ

This DOESN’T mean you should plagiarize; rather, it means you should draw ideas from other gigs, build something that matches your gig, and make it your own.

4 Descriptive Gigs.

Your gigs, like your seller profile, should have a well-written description.

You should include a description of what your gig entails, who your most likely clients are who will benefit from your gig and even a description of the industrial area in which you specialize.

If you’re a writer, including a list of your specialties.

List more details about each gig package and gig add-ons once you’ve discussed the gig.

Finally, make sure to emphasize a competitive edge that you provide that not everyone else would tout, such as:

  • Providing Unlimited Revisions
  • 24 hours work delivery
  • If you speak more than one language, Add Bilingual.
  • Any unique aspects about your gig that set you apart from other sellers.
  • Include a section on “Why Trust / Hire Me.”

Include a “Why Trust Me” or “Why Hire Me” section to give sellers the confidence they need before hiring you.

This part can be added to your seller profile, as well as each gig with its own version.

This area should be your 3-5 sentence (max) elevator speech on why you believe you should be hired over others.

Don’t use generic phrases like “…because I’m good at what I do…” or something similar, because any seller could say something similar!

Instead, use phrases like “I’ve worked in [industry] for 10+ years with large companies like [company].”

Alternatively, make a summary of your main achievements that qualify you for your gig industry or specific position.

Your best buddy is specific!

5 Reviews

The goal here is to just get a few reviews under your belt.

Reviews

The more good ratings you have, the more likely you are to appear in the top Fiverr search results.

How do you go about doing this before you make your first sale?

The quick answer is that you can’t. It’s also fine to tell your friends and relatives about your gig and ask for a review.

If you do this, make sure you don’t try to “game” the system by having someone place a phony order merely to obtain a review, as this will quickly result in your Fiverr account being closed.

Rather, advertise your jobs and ask your friends and family for genuine work that they might need to be done, then have them submit the work order on Fiverr (you can even give them custom pricing; it’s not against the rules) and ask for an honest assessment of how you did.

Call it your first order or your “test” order; whatever you call it, it will help you get traction and provide meaningful feedback to other potential sellers on the type of work you produce for your jobs.

6 List the same gig several times

This suggestion is related to what some people refer to as “A/B Testing.”

List the same gig several times

To put it another way, you take your initial gig and list it twice or three times, each time with a new title, tags, and keywords.

This increases your chances of being found through typical searches.

You may delete the other gigs and stay with the one that’s working once you start getting orders on it and it picks up.

7 You Must Market Yourself!

Last but not least, there’s a solution that everyone knows about but few people really use.

You should be promoting your gigs! Where?

Your ideal customers can be found wherever they are.

This includes sending out periodic social media postings, producing blog pieces that direct people to your gigs, reaching out to local businesses that could benefit from your services, investing some money in Google Ads upfront, and even paying for Facebook Ads to gain traction.

Remember, your aim is to make your first sale and begin producing reviews, so this doesn’t have to be a frequent occurrence when it comes to paying for adverts.

If you can obtain a few orders with favorable reviews, provide excellent service, and continue to promote your gigs through free avenues such as social media, you’ll inevitably start getting repeat clients and frequent orders, which means more money in your pocket!

It’s All About Consistency.

As a new seller or freelancer, the most crucial thing you can do is maintain consistency.

You’ll almost certainly get your first Fiverr sale if you promote your gigs on a regular basis, alter your offers, and so on.

It’s only a question of time!

Following these five guidelines, on the other hand, will put you miles ahead of any other new seller in terms of starting to receive regular orders and growing your freelance business.

Consistency

Summary

Let me begin by arguing that “Posting Gigs” is insufficient.

When someone looks at your profile, Gigs inform you about the services you provide.

Initially, it has nothing to do with making sales.

Furthermore, because there are so many top-rated/level 2 sellers – with 1000+ reviews and 4.5+ ratings – who provide the same service like yours, no Buyer will order your gig when you are new:

Here are some easy-to-follow guidelines for earning your first $100 on Fiverr:

  • Make a reasonable proposal. Don’t overpay for a $10 job by going to $100.
  • Do not respond to every inquiry with a proposal. You only have ten minutes, so make the most of them.
  • Sending a general proposal like “I can do it” is not a good idea.
  • In your proposal, focus on the buyer’s wants and requirements.
  • Pose inquiries.

In my perspective, the first five reviews are all you need to get your business off the ground!

Note that I mentioned “Reviews” rather than “Clients” because there may be one or two clients who will not leave a review, so don’t count them.
