The process of finding jobs on Fiverr is quite straightforward. However, it is critical to understand the different parties involved in the transaction and the terms used for them on Fiverr.
So, here’s how it works on Fiverr.
Sellers
On Fiverr, freelancers looking for work are referred to as “sellers”. As a seller, you can list any type of service you would like to offer, along with how much you would like to be paid for the service.
However, listing your service and the amount you are offering doesn’t determine your chances of being hired on Fiverr.
Your chances of getting the job solely depend on your experience in that field as well as your experience on Fiverr.
Buyers
Buyers are referred to as those who are looking to purchase a service on Fiverr. So, if you have something that you need to be completed, whether it’s a specific task, job, or project, you can be on Fiverr as a buyer, offering a job to a seller.
The buyers hire the sellers to get the job done. Buyers on Fiverr are not restricted to individuals alone. They could be businesses or companies.
These terms describe how services are sold and bought on Fiverr, but one unique thing about Fiverr that these terms didn’t describe is its communication type.
Fiverr is a two-way communication platform. This means that both buyers and sellers have the opportunity to find each other on the platform.
A buyer can search through profiles of sellers on the platform, to find the seller that meets their requirements. Or, a seller can look through the various buyer requests that match their skills.
Once a buyer finds a seller or, a seller finds a buyer through their buyers’ request,
they get to agree on a set goal, time frame, and price.

After knowing how the Fiverr platform works, it is time to know how to work on Fiverr for beginners.
Working on Fiverr as a beginner is as easy as a walk in the park, that is if you follow these steps righteously. And who knows you’d be off to making $100 daily.
Create an account
As a beginner, one of the first things you want to do is to create an account on Fiverr.
To create your Fiverr account, follow the following steps below:
Step 1: Click “Join” from Fiverr’s homepage
Step 2: Here, you could join by either using your Google account, Facebook account or, by entering your email address and click on “Continue”
Note: Whatever option you sign up for your Fiverr account with, is the same option you would use to sign in throughout the lifetime of the account
Step 3: Choose your username! Your username is your display name.
Note: you must choose your username wisely because, once you have successfully created your account, your username can never be changed.
Step 4: Choose your password and click Join.
If you followed these steps, congratulations! You are now registered on Fiverr!
You will be sent an activation email, please check your registered email address as you will receive an email to activate your account. Usually, the activation link in the email is only valid for 30 days.
Create a Seller Profile
After creating an account on Fiverr, the next thing you need on how to work on Fiverr for beginners is that you should create a seller’s profile.
Your profile is the most significant way to get a job on Fiverr. Your profile as a seller, allows you to showcase your experience, skills, and history to buyers.
Most importantly, when creating your profile, you should know that you need to sell yourself with your profile!
This is because the seller’s profile is the first impression the buyer gets of the seller and this is what buyers have to help them decide if they want to hire a seller or not.
To create your seller account on Fiverr, follow these simple guidelines
Step 1: Click on the drop-down menu from your profile picture and select “Become a Seller”
Step 2: You would be directed to a page, where you would click on “Become a Seller” again to start the onboarding process. This process includes watching three videos on How to use Fiverr as a seller.
Step 3: after you’re done watching the videos, you will be directed to Fiverr’s tips on What makes a successful Fiverr profile and what to steer clear of as a seller. After this, click Continue.
Step 4: fill out your personal information. You will be needed to fill out the following:
- Your full name (This information will remain private)
- In the Profile Picture section, add an appropriate image of yourself.
- Introduce yourself to the Fiverr community in the description section.
- Fill in the languages you speak and your level of fluency in the language section
- Click Continue.
Step 5: Fill up your professional Info. For this, you will be asked to list:
- Your Occupation. You must select your expertise in at least two fields.
- Select skills of your choice. You need to choose at least two and five tops.
- You need to fill in your educational background. select when and where you attended college.
- Certification. You will need to fill in your honors and awards as this can help you stand out from other sellers.
- Personal Website field, enter your URL.
- Click Continue.
Step 6: You will be needed to link your social accounts. In the Linked Accounts section, you must link your social and professional networking accounts to your Fiverr account. Then click “Continue”
Step 7: Account Security. Here, you will need to verify your email and your phone number and then follow certain prompts. And when you’re finished, click Continue and Create Your First Gig.
Note: You will be needed to complete a minimum of 65% of your account information for your seller account to be published.
At least one linked account is required, and the phone verification process must be completed at the end.
Create your first gig
The final step in how to work on Fiverr for beginners is to go ahead and create your first gig.
Creating your first gift helps you to offer your services, as a seller on Fiverr!
Note: You can only create your seller account and activate your first gig on the desktop version of Fiverr.
The following tips below will guide you to creating your first gig.
Step 1: Login into your account and click on your profile.
Step 2: From your profile, click on create a new gig.
Step 3: You will be directed to a new page where you are to input your gig overview.
Gig Title: You will be expected to write a title of about 80 characters or less. For this part, you must ensure that your Gig title is short, clear, and straight to the point.
Fiverr helps you start your title with ”I will…” All you need to do is to complete the sentence with the service you wish to provide.
Step 4: You will be directed to a page to fill your gig category. Here, you are to select the appropriate category and subcategory for your Gig.
If you don’t know the one to pick, you don’t have to worry about it because Fiverr will recommend categories and subcategories based on your title.
Note: You will not be able to change your Gig’s category after it is published, so choose carefully and ensure that the category matches the services you’re providing.
Step 5: You will be expected to fill the service type of your gig. The service type is to ensure that you appear in the search results related to the category you selected.
Step 6: You will need to fill in the metadata of your gig. This is a relevant criterion for each topic.
Step 7: In the search tags field, you must add about five words that best describe your Gig, then Save & Continue.
Step 8: You will then be directed to a page to fill the scope and pricing.
Here, you will be expected to name your packages and write a brief title for the service you are offering, by doing the following:
- Describe the details of your services in the area provided.
- select the number of days it will take for you to complete a particular job.
- Select the various items you would like to include in your service (Extras). This usually depends on the type of service you are offering.
- select the number of revisions you are willing to include in your Gig.
- select a price for your service (usually, a gig on Fiverr doesn’t go lower than $5)
Note: When setting the scope and pricing for your gig, you can create one or three packages.
Step 9: you will be redirected to a section to add extra services for your gig. In this section, you have the option to deliver your Gig ExtraFast and charge higher if you desire.
In setting the delivery time for extra fast delivery, it must be lower than the regular Gig’s delivery time frame. There are also other options you could offer extras for.
Step 10: You will be redirected to. Page to fill in the description and FAQs of the gig. In the Description section, you are expected to describe your Gig service and what you will be offered.
Here, you must be as detailed as possible because this is where some buyers determine if your Gig meets their needs.
In the Frequently Asked Questions section, select Add FAQ. Then you can add questions that you think your buyers might have and then you provide the answers to those questions, then click Add.
After adding your FAQs, click Save & Continue.
Step 11: Fill in your gig requirements. Remember I stated earlier that Fiverr has a two-way communication system? Well, the requirements section of the gig showcases this.
This is where you have the opportunity to tell your buyer what you would be needing from them to start the order.
Here, you are free to lay down instructions that will be followed by your buyer. When you’re done setting your buyer requirements, click Save & Continue.
STEP 12: You will be expected to set up a gallery for your gig.
Note: Every gig must have at least one image uploaded before it can be published. The image should be owned by you as copyrighted images or images downloaded from the internet will not be accepted. Click Save & Continue.
STEP 13: Publish your gig. After following all of the steps above to this point, then your gig will be active. Then, click Publish Gig.
